Pre/Post Guest Cleaning Checklist

GUEST PREPARATIONS:

**Common Areas:**
- Thoroughly dust all light fixtures and ceiling fans.
- Sanitize all light switches to ensure cleanliness.
- Remove pet hair, lint, and dirt from upholstery, linens, and fabrics.
- Dust and polish all visible surfaces within reach.
- Polish all wood, leather, glass, and marble surfaces.
- Inspect seating areas to ensure they are clutter-free and inviting.
- Pick up and store any personal items appropriately.
- Collect all trash and recycling, check bins for cleanliness and replace with fresh liners
- Sanitize and polish kitchen cabinets and countertops.
- Declutter kitchen countertops for a tidy appearance.
- Clean out the refrigerator, checking expiration dates and wiping the interior.
- Sanitize and polish the exterior of the refrigerator.
- Sanitize the oven door and polish its surface.
- Sanitize the interior and polish the exterior of the microwave.
- Sanitize and polish the dishwasher door.
- Disinfect and polish the sink, drain, faucet, and knobs, be sure the garbage disposal is disinfected and odor free. 
- Degrease the backsplash thoroughly.
- Polish the range hood for a pristine look.
- Sanitize and polish the dining table and chairs.
- Spot clean walls and polish doors as needed.
- Shake out all mats and rugs.
- Polish any sliding glass doors and entry door windows
- Sweep and mop floors for a fresh shining finish.

**Guest Bedrooms:**
- Dust ceiling corners to remove cobwebs.
- Dust light fixtures and ceiling fans.
- Dust and polish all visible surfaces thoroughly.
- Check each light bulb, replacing any that are not functioning.
- Spot wash walls, doors, trim, and baseboards.
- Apply fresh sheets and duvet covers to the beds.
- Ensure rooms are free from unnecessary/personal clutter.
- Remove pet hair and lint from upholstery.
- Wash windows and dust blinds.
- Place two clean bath towels, two clean washcloths, and one clean hand towel at the foot of each bed.
- Vacuum carpets, treating any stains.
- Sweep and mop floors as needed.
- Remove trash, check bins for cleanliness and replace with a fresh liner.

**Guest Bathrooms:**
- Disinfect and polish toilets inside and out.
- Supply a bottle of air freshener close by
- Wipe down and polish the exteriors of vanities thoroughly.
- Sanitize and polish sinks, drains, faucets, and knobs.
- Clear countertops, sanitizing and polishing the entire surface.
- Keep counters free from personal clutter.
- Polish mirrors for a streak-free shine.
- Hang fresh hand towels.
- Scrub showers and tubs to remove grime.
- Polish bathroom fixtures.
- Scrub and polish tile grout.
- Polish glass shower doors.
- Hang fresh bath towels and ensure a supply of backup towels and amenities in the closet.
- Stock toilet paper adequately.
- Fill hand soap dispensers.
- Provide hygiene essentials (shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, toothpaste, mouthwash, lotion, etc., possibly including bubble bath).
- Sweep and mop floors.
- Once dry, place bath mats on the floor.

**Extra Touches:**
- Add plug-in air fresheners near doors and in common areas.
- Provide extra pillows and blankets, conveniently stored.
- If there is no ceiling fan, provide a box fan or space heater for prefered comfort.
- Add throws and extra couch pillows, reading materials, and family photoalbums near seating areas.
- Offer bottled water and snacks for guests to enjoy after a long trip.

GUEST CLEAN UP:

**Bedrooms:**
- Strip and remake any used beds.
- Place fresh liners in all trash bins.
- Gather all used towels and washcloths.
- Sanitize toilets inside and out.
- Restock toilet paper as needed.
- Sanitize cabinets thoroughly.
- Sanitize and polish sinks and countertops.
- Polish mirrors. 
- Hang fresh towels in bathrooms.
- Scrub, sanitize, and polish showers and tubs.
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum all areas.
- Collect and remove all trash.
